Este lugar es realmente asombroso, es perfecto para ti si te gusta disfrutar un café leyendo un libro al aire libre. Es un pequeño lugar con más o menos 8 mesitas y está ubicado en una maravillosa plaza y junto a una linda biblioteca de la ciudad. Este lugar tiene el encanto de cualquier café europeo, con un aire intelectual y lleno de color al mismo tiempo. Si te gusta el típico café fuerte italiano este sitio es para ti, pero si no, no te preocupes, ellos pueden hacerte un late simple con una gota de café como lo hicieron por mí (carita feliz). El precio es bueno y puedes pasar un rato bonito y diferente.

This place is really amazing, it’s perfect if you like to enjoy a coffee while reading a book outdoors. It is a very small place with 8 tables more or less and it’s located in a wonderful square and next to a nice library of the city. This place has the charm of any European café, with an intellectual air and full of colour at the same time. If you like the typical Italian strong coffee this place is for you, but if not, don’t worry, they can make for you a simple latte with a drop of coffee just as they did it for me (smiley face). The price is good and you can go and spend a nice and different while.

Café Noisette, Caracas

Si quieres ir a un rincón olvidado de París en el medio del caos caraqueño tienes que ir a Café Noisette. Es un lugar maravilloso, como los que yo amo, es acogedor y parece un viejo café parisino. Puedes comer deliciosa comida francesa como crepes (dulces y saladas), tartines, quiches, bruschetas, ensaladas, sopa de cebolla o el plato del día (dato: si llegan temprano al medio día el plato del día es más barato). Ir allá es una buena experiencia, tienen buena atención, comida asombrosa y el lugar te hace sentir cómodo y complacido. No es barato pero vale la pena. No hay estacionamiento pero muy cerca está un centro comercial donde pueden parar. ¡Los invito a viajar a París por un rato en Café Noisette!

If you want to go to a forgotten corner of France in the middle of Caracas’ chaos, you have to go to Café Noisette. It’s a wonderful place, just like the spots that I love, it’s cosy and seems like an old Parisian Caffe. There you can eat delicious French food like crepes (sweet and salty), tartines, quiches, bruschetas, salads, onion soup or the dish of the day (fact: if you arrive early at noon the dish of the day is cheaper). It’s a good experience going there, nice attention, amazing food and the place makes you to feel comfortable and pleased. It’s not cheap but totally worth it. They don’t have a parking lot but there is a big mall nearby where you can park. I invite you to travel for a while to Paris in Café Noisette!

Burger Joint, New York

Estaba loca por visitar este lugar porque es famoso por tener las mejores hamburguesas de Nueva York y porque apareció en una de mis series favoritas, HIMYM. Marshall (uno de los personajes) dijo que era la mejor hamburguesa de la ciudad pero no podía recordar la dirección, y es que en la vida real es tan difícil de encontrar como en el programa. Es un lugar escondido en un hotel, al lado de una cortina y a través de un pasillo, yo tenía la dirección pero la verdadera pista para encontrarlo fue la larga cola de gente esperando para entrar. En la cola encontrarás unos papelitos para hacer tu orden, y si no sabes qué quieres comer al momento de pedir, entonces tienes que regresar al final de la línea. Tengo que decir que los neoyorquinos tienen un punto a su favor, fácilmente esta puede ser la mejor hamburguesa. La presentación es bastante desprolija; la hamburguesa viene envuelta y dentro de una bolsa de papel, pero el sabor y la textura son maravillosas. Es tan deliciosa que ninguna foto le hace justicia a esta hamburguesa; realmente no puedo creer como una hamburguesa tan simple puede ser tan rica. Este lugar es maravilloso, es pequeño como un maní y siempre está lleno pero se siente tan bien estar ahí disfrutándolo, que yo solo tengo que decir: ¡por favor vayan! Y gracias Marshall por la recomendación, la amé.

I was crazy about visiting this place because it is famous for having the best burger in New York and because it appears in one of my favourite shows, HIMYM. Marshall (one of the characters) said that it was the best burger in the city but he couldn’t remember the address. Of course in real life the restaurant is difficult to find, just like in the TV series; it’s a secret place inside a hotel, beside a curtain and through a corridor. I had the address and the real clue to find it was the huge line of people waiting to get inside. On the line you are going to find a little piece of paper to fill with your order, and if you don’t know what do you want to eat when they ask, well you have to go back to the end of the line. I have to say that the newyorkers have a point, that could easily be the best burger; the presentation is very sloppy, it comes wrapped in paper and inside a paper bag, but the taste and the texture are amazing, it’s so delicious that no picture made justice to this burger; I really can’t believe how a burger that simple could be so yummy. This place is really awesome, it’s little like a peanut and is always crowded but it’s so nice to be there only enjoying it, that I only have to say: please you must go! And thank you Marshall for this recommendation, I just loved it.

Tea time: Caffé de Mokambo

Me gusta mucho  la atmosfera de los cafés porque te hace sentir a gusto, y este lugar es uno de esos. Es un bonito y agradable restaurante con un gran menú lleno de delicias como cosas de pastelería, desayunos, almuerzos, meriendas y una gran variedad de bebidas como diferentes tipos de café, tes, jugos saludables y merengadas de café. Este lugar es perfecto para tener una cita, una reunión con amigos o incluso una reunión de negocios. Una de mis cosas favoritas acerca de este sitio es la atención porque es muy buena y eso es maravilloso.

I like the vibe of cafés because it makes you feel comfortable, and this place is one of them. It’s a beautiful and cozy rest with a big menu full of delicious pastries, breakfasts, lunches, snacks and large variety of drinks like different types of coffee, tea, healthy juices and coffee milkshakes. This place is perfect to have a nice date, a meeting with some friends or even a business meeting.  One of my favourite things about this place is the attention because it is very good and that is wonderful.

Ernesto’s Hamburguesas Alemanas, Caracas

Este es uno de esos lugares que me encantan, porque es simple, viejo, con historia y de esos que todavía conservan su sabor tradicional. Ernesto’s Hamburguesas Alemanas (No sé por qué pero su nombre cambió ahora a Hamburguesas Alemanas) ha estado en el mismo lugar desde 1961 cuando sus dueños decidieron abrirlo, recién llegados de Hungría. Es por eso que su menú es una mezcla de platos al mejor estilo de Hungría y Alemania. Tienen diferentes tipos de hamburguesas y salchichas, todas muy simples pero con un sabor maravilloso. Y la mejor parte (al menos para mí) es tomar la indescriptible y extraordinaria merengada de pistacho; también tienen otros sabores pero yo amo la verde y espesa bebida hecha con amor y pistachos. Ir a este lugar es una buena experiencia y además es muy barato, ¡síii!    

This is one of those places that I love, because it’s simple, old, with history and it still keeps its traditional taste. Ernesto’s Hamburguesas Alemanas (I don’t know why but the name was changed to Hamburguesas Alemanas) has been at the same place since 1961 when their owners decided to open this amazing restaurant, when they were just arriving from Hungary. That is why their menu is a mixture of food in the best style of Hungary and Germany. They have different types of burgers and sausages, all of them are very simple but the taste is wonderful. And the best part (at least for me) is drinking the indescribable and marvellous pistachio milkshake; they have other flavours but I love the thick and green drink made with love and pistachio. Going there is a nice experience and it’s also very cheap, yeah!

Pizza Caracas, Caracas

Realmente me gusta mucho este lugar porque definitivamente es un tipo de restaurante diferente, es uno de paso. Si necesitas comer algo rápido, simple, delicioso y no muy grande, este sitio es perfecto para ti. Es como los típicos restaurantes de pizza de New York, con un estilo fresco y una buena selección de pizzas por porción. También tienen ensaladas, carpaccios, mini tortas y bebidas importadas en una gran nevera todo listo para llevar. Es un bonito lugar  que ofrece una manera diferente de comer. Está ubicado en un maravilloso lugar de la ciudad y sus precios están muy bien. ¡Vayan!

I really like this place because it’s definitely a different kind of restaurant, it is a step restaurant. If you need to eat something fast, simple, delicious and not too big, this place is perfect for you. It’s just like a typical pizza restaurant from New York, with cool style and a good selection of pizza by the slice. They also have salads, carpaccios, mini cakes and imported drinks in a big fridge ready to take out. It’s a nice place that offers a different way to eat. It’s located in an amazing spot of the city and the prices are ok. Go!

Market charm: Mercado de Chacao

El Nuevo Mercado de Chacao es un gran mercado en el medio de Chacao, un pequeño pueblo incrustado en el corazón de la ciudad. Es un nuevo lugar para comprar comida pero con el encanto de los viejos mercados. Adentro está lleno de maravillosos puestos donde puedes  encontrar muchos vegetales frescos, quesos, carne, cerdo, frutos secos y una infinidad de diferentes tipos de cosas que se comen. Ir allá es un placer lleno de colores y sabores.

The Chacao new market is a big traditional market in the middle of Chacao, a nice little town embedded in the heart of the city. It’s a new place to buy food but with the charm that the old markets have. It has plenty of wonderful spots inside where you can find a lot of fresh vegetables, cheese, meat, pork, nuts, fruits, and infinite kinds of edible stuff. Going there is a pleasure full of colours and flavours. 

En este lugar puedes tomar maravillosos desayunos o meriendas como las increíbles y muy saludables empanadas horneadas (comida tradicional que consiste en una masa rellena de cualquier cosa como queso por ejemplo), sánduches, tizanas  (una mezcla de frutas picadas), cocada (una especie de merengada de coco), o las no tan sanas arepas de chicharrón (una masa mezclada con pequeños pedazos de piel de cochino frito como en una especie de pan tradicional venezolano) que la gente ama.

In this place you can get wonderful breakfasts or snacks like the amazing and very healthy baked empanadas (traditional food which is a dough filled with any kind of stuffing like cheese for example), sandwiches, tizanas (a mix of chopped fruits), cocada (coconut shake), or the not-so-healthy chicharron arepas (a dough mixed with little pieces of fried pork skin as a type of Venezuelan bread) that people love.

Aquí también puedes comprar flores; tienen una gran variedad de muchos colores que decoran una de las entradas del mercado.  Espero que puedas disfrutar este lugar alguna vez, yo amo ir los sábados en la mañana después del yoga y es adorable.

Here you can also buy some flowers; they have a variety of them full of colours that decorate one of the entrances of the market.  I hope you can enjoy this place sometime, I love going there on Saturday mornings after yoga and it’s adorable.

Araxi, Caracas

This restaurant is a good place for you if you love burgers. Is very nice and it has a cool and simple decoration. They have a huge menu with a lot of types of burgers; I chose the vegetarian: with eggplant, breaded goat cheese, tomatoes, rugula and something sweet that I don’t know what it was but it tasted wonderful. The Argentina is very good too, with chimichurri; and the Fundido burger with American melted cheese sounds like heaven to the cheese lovers. They offer a variety of things like fried sweet potatoes and plantain (tostones), french fries, onion rings or salads to go with your meal. You can try a salad if you prefer something lighter and you can enjoy wonderful milkshakes if you want something sweet. The price is not cheap but is only a little bit more expensive that eating a burger in any fast food restaurant, and Araxi is surly better.  

Este restaurante es un buen lugar para ti si amas las hamburguesas. Es muy bonito y tiene un decorado simple e interesante. Tienen un gran menú con muchos tipos diferentes de hamburguesas; yo pedí la vegetariana: con berenjenas, queso de cabra empanizado, tomates, rúgula y algo dulce que no sé qué era pero sabía maravilloso. La argentina también es muy buena, con chimichurri, y la hamburguesa fundido con queso americano derretido suena como el cielo para los amantes del queso. Tienen una variedad de cosas como batatas y plátanos fritos (tostones),  papas fritas, aros de cebolla o ensaladas para acompañar tu comida. También puedes probar las ensaladas si prefieres algo más ligero y disfrutar de las merengadas si quieres algo dulce. Los precios no son baratos pero es sólo un poquito más caro que comer una hamburguesa en cualquier lugar de comida rápida, y Araxi seguramente sabrá mejor.

Pensión Ana, Caracas

Este restaurante solía ser una pensión y ha estado en el mismo lugar por más de 55 años. Hoy en día es solo un restaurante, pero uno bueno con mucha experiencia haciendo comida italiana impresionante. Se especializan en pastas, pero tienen otros platos increíbles con un gran gusto. Este lugar es muy simple  pero con el encanto que los restaurantes viejos tienen; cuando entras te sientes tan confortable que es muy agradable ir. Este lugar es el restaurante italiano favorito de uno de mis amigos y él lo visitaba desde que era un niño… buenos recuerdos alrededor de este lugar. Mi amigo recomienda los ñoqui cuatro quesos, pero realmente pienso que puedes escoger lo que quieras y seguramente será maravilloso. Este restaurante está ubicado en un lugar un poco inseguro, así que es mejor si vas para la hora del almuerzo. Para terminar tengo que decir que los precios no son muy caros para ser un restaurante de tradición.

This restaurant used to be a pension and has been at the same place for more than 55 years. Nowadays it is only a restaurant, but a good one with a lot of experience making awesome Italian food. Their speciality is pasta, but they have other incredible dishes with a great taste. This place is very simple but with the charm that the old restaurants have; when you go inside you feel so comfy that is very nice to go. This place is the favourite Italian restaurant for one of my friends and he visits it since he was a kid… good memories around this place. My friend recommends the four cheese gnocchi, but I really think that you can choose whatever you want and it will surely be wonderful. This restaurant is located in a place a tad unsafe, so it’s better if you go for lunch. To finish I have to say that the price is not that expensive for a traditional restaurant.
